Senior Education Specialist

Laura Gregory is a Senior Education Specialist in the World Bank’s Education and Skills Global Department where she leads the World Bank’s global teachers work program focused on policies and practices to strengthen and support a pipeline of teachers for improved student learning. She is currently leading a new global study of initial teacher education. Previously, she led or supported education projects focused on areas such as teaching, learning, and assessment; education statistics, indicators, and research; and system and school evaluation. She has authored, co-authored, and contributed to numerous publications including education sector reviews and efficiency studies, and on topics such as Arabic language teaching and learning, teacher professional development, learning recovery, inclusive education, and digital and distance education. She supported the development of the World Bank’s EdStats platform. Prior to joining the World Bank, Laura was a Statistician in the UK government and a Secondary School Mathematics Teacher in Australian and Scottish schools. She holds an MSc in Statistics and a Bachelor of Education.
