Lauren Culver, Senior Energy Specialist, has over 15 years of experience in energy systems, including 7 years with the World Bank. Ms. Culver is working to help countries meet the UN Sustainable Development Goals by alleviating energy poverty while limiting climate changing emissions. While at the Bank, Ms. Culver has worked in West and Southern Africa on energy access, regional energy markets, and renewable energy integration. In her current role she contributes to global knowledge with a focus on energy system modeling and analysis to inform energy transition financing in low- and middle- income countries.
Prior to joining the Bank, she served as an advisor within the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Energy Resources advising policymakers on energy markets and technologies. Previously, Ms. Culver was a Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Department of Energy, where she counseled the Undersecretary for Energy on innovation and manufacturing. Lauren earned a PhD in Management and Science and Engineering from Stanford University, an MS in Technology and Policy and an MS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from MIT, and a BS in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida.
