Laurent Corroyer is Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist with 15 years of professional experience in urban resilience, disaster risk management, urban and ecological planning, urban design, and architecture. Leveraging his previous experience in North Africa and Southeast Asia, he joined the World Bank in 2015 to support Transport, Water and Education teams in the Caribbean. He moved to the Urban Resilience and Land team in 2018, focusing on integrated and sustainable flood management systems in the Democratic Republic of Congo. As Senior Disaster Risk Management Specialist in the West and Central Africa Region, his work currently focusses on the Central African Republic, Gabon and Cameroon, where he leads and co-leads several urban and DRM operations integrating urban planning with disaster risk reduction strategies, ensuring safer, greener, more resilient communities. Laurent holds master’s degrees in civil engineering and architecture from France, and a master’s degree in Urbanism Landscape and Ecology from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a PhD in City and Regional Planning from the University of Pennsylvania.
