Šestović recently led the team that prepared the Serbia Country Economic Memorandum, which explores how Serbia can utilize its export potential. He also contributed to the regional report on the European growth model, with an analysis of labor mobility and migrations. In addition, he led recent work on a public expenditure review in Serbia and performed subational work in Vietnam.

Lazar joined the World Bank Country office for Serbia and Montengro in 2002 as a research analyst, and in 2006 began working as an economist. Between 2009 and 2011 he was an economist in the World Bank Office in Brussels before returning to the Serbia office as country economist.
Occasionally, he is a guest lecturer at Belgrade University’s School of Economics, the Institute of Economic Studies and at Belgrade Open School. He has conducted trainings for members of the Serbian Parliament on poverty monitoring and IFIs; as well as to journalists on the basics of economics.
Šestović holds a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the Central European University in Hungary, a specialized degree in Economic Deregulation and Open Markets from the Cyprus International Institute of Management, and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Belgrade’s School of Economics’ Department for International Trade.
