Leonardo Bichara Rocha is a Senior Economist in the Agricultural and Food Unit, Latin America and Caribbean region, Brazil Office, where he is responsible for supervising a portfolio of operations of around USD 550 million. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked for the International Fund for Agricultural Development - IFAD as Country Programme Officer (CPO), managing its portfolio of rural investment projects in Brazil. Leonardo also worked as a Senior Economist at the International Sugar Organization (ISO) based in London, UK, where he led econometric research and analysis on soft commodities and biofuels. He has chaired global commodity conferences in Singapore, South Africa and was a speaker in key world sugar/ethanol conferences held in multiple countries across all continents, from the Americas, the Caribbean, Africa, Europe, Asia, and Oceania. Leonardo has a PhD and an MSc in Economics from the University of Essex, UK, and a BA from the University of Brasília. Leonardo holds a Certificate in International Public Financial Management from CIPFA.
