Leonardo Lucchetti is a Senior Economist working in the Europe and Central Asia Region of the Poverty Reduction and Equity Department at the World Bank. Previously, he worked in the Latin American Region of the Poverty Reduction and Equity Department and the Social Protection Sector. He has conducted research on poverty and inequality; social protection; labor; health; and education; among other topics. Leonardo has experience on these topics in countries throughout Latin America and the Western Balkan region, Turkey, Romania, Eritrea, and Ethiopia. Before joining the World Bank, Leonardo worked at CEDLAS in La Plata, Argentina, and at the Economic and Financial Affairs Unit of the European Commission in Brussels, Belgium. He has published articles in the Journal of Development Economics, the Journal of Agricultural Economics, and the Journal of Economic Inequality, among other journals. Leonardo holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a Master’s in Economics from Universidad Nacional de La Plata in Argentina.
