Lesego Tshuwa is an urban planner with professional experience in the built environment. She joined the World Bank in 2021 as a Short-term Consultant. Her areas of responsibility include technical advisory to the Cities Support Program of the South African Urban Program. Assistance is in township economic development. Lesego is also involved in the Smart Cities Program in South Africa, implemented in 4 metros, in partnership with the DBSA.
Prior to joining the World Bank, Lesego worked for Wits University, contributing to research conducted by the School of Architecture and Planning, where the focus has been on youth in Ekangala, Bronkhorstspruit and how their work and housing dynamics compare to those of youth in Hawassa, Ethiopia.
Lesego holds a Master’s Degree in Town and Regional Planning (Urban Studies) from the University of the Witwatersrand.
