Liam Brown is a consultant for the World Bank's Urban, Resilience, and Land Global Department. Previously, he managed communications for the Greater London Authority, supporting the delivery of the Mayor of London's transport and air quality policies. Notably, he helped to build public support for the London-wide expansion of the city's Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in 2023, creating the world’s largest clean air zone.
Before that, Liam worked for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP), the world’s largest humanitarian organization and the laureate of the 2020 Nobel Peace Prize. He managed information and reporting for the global emergency response to the COVID-19 pandemic at WFP's headquarters in Italy, led digital communications for WFP's Innovation Accelerator in Germany, and helped to scale up emergency food and cash assistance to 470,000 people affected by Cyclones Batsirai and Emnati with WFP's country office in Madagascar.
A Canadian national, Liam holds a Master's in Urbanisation and Development from the London School of Economics and Political Science, a Bachelor's in International Relations from Western University, and a Certificate in Political Studies from Sciences Po Grenoble.
