Resident Representative, Botswana

Mr. Liang Wang is the Resident Representative of the World Bank for Botswana since 2022. He has worked at the World Bank across regions and the headquarters. He was the coordinator for the China, Korea and Mongolia country program—one of the largest programs at the World Bank. Prior to that, Liang worked on the operational policy of the International Development Association—the concessional finance window of the World Bank, and was a special assistant to the Managing Director of the World Bank. Before joining the World Bank, Liang worked at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington, and the UN Development Programme and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in Beijing. Liang holds double master’s degrees from The George Washington University in Washington and The University of Hong Kong, and a BA degree from the Foreign Affairs College in Beijing. He has also studied at Sciences Po in France and University of Oslo in Norway.
