Liliana Sousa is a Senior Economist in the Poverty and Equity Unit in the Eastern and Southern Africa Region at the World Bank. As the poverty economist for Angola and Sao Tome and Principe, her work focuses on poverty, inclusion, and statistical development. She has also worked in the Latin America and Caribbean Region as the poverty economist for Brazil and Honduras. She has authored work on various topics, with a particular interest in the labor market and migration. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2013, she was an economist in the Center for Economic Studies at the U.S. Census Bureau. She received her Ph.D. in economics from Cornell University.
