Senior Disaster Risk Management specialist

Lizardo Narvaez is a Senior Disaster Risk Management specialist at the World Bank’s Urban, Disaster Risk, Resilience, and Land global practice. Currently based in Mozambique, has more than 20 years of experience in Disaster Risk Management (DRM), Urban Resilience, Climate Change Adaptation, and Environment Related projects. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2014, Lizardo worked for the IADB, UNDP, and the European Commission, among other international organizations; and previously held positions with the General Secretariat of the Andean Community and the Colombia National Planning Department.  He holds a master's degree in international Cooperation and Development from the University of Pavia, Italy. His expertise covers more than 20 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Africa. At the World Bank, Lizardo’s main activities focus on working with governments on DRM policy reforms and institutional capacity building, risk assessment, post-disaster recovery, integrating DRM in public investment projects, designing DRM indexes, and evaluating national/subnational DRM performance. Lizardo is an active member of The Network for Social Studies on Disaster Prevention in Latin America (LA RED).
