Lorena Levano is a political and behavioral scientist with international experience in gender equality, social development, and evidence-based policy. She currently serves as Economist and Advisor to the Global Director of the Gender Group at the World Bank, where she supports the implementation of the Gender Strategy 2024–2030, provides high-level technical inputs, and advances work on gender-based violence (GBV) and social norms. Previously, she worked as a Social Development Specialist for Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on applying the Environmental and Social Framework across the region, addressing GBV, promoting youth inclusion, and developing innovative approaches to reduce xenophobia. She has also been a researcher at the Center for Social Norms and Behavioral Dynamics at the University of Pennsylvania and an education researcher with UNICEF Innocenti. Earlier in her career, she led initiatives and policies in the Government of Peru and taught at universities on topics including behavioral change, political science, and quantitative methods.
