Lourdes Rodríguez-Chamussy

Senior Economist in the Poverty and Equity Global Unit at The World Bank

Lourdes Rodriguez-Chamussy is a Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Poverty and Equity Global Unit, where she has worked across the Europe and Central Asia and Latin America and the Caribbean regions. Her work focuses on applied microeconomics, labor markets, and gender. Lourdes led the Gender Innovation Lab for Latin America and the Caribbean between 2019 and 2021. Before joining the World Bank, she worked at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), George Washington University, and the Government of Mexico. She has published several papers and reports on poverty measurement, the distributive impacts of public investment and fiscal policy, and labor market incentives. She led the Poverty and Equity Assessment “Poverty Traps in Argentina” and co-authored the reports “(In)Formalizing Jobs in Latin America and the Caribbean: Taxes, Benefits, and Labor Market Incentives and Cashing in on Education: Women, Childcare, and Prosperity in Latin America and the Caribbean. She holds a Ph.D. in Agricultural and Resource Economics from the University of California, Berkeley.
