M. Yaa Oppong, Ph.D is currently a Lead Social Development Specialist and Sector Leader for Sustainable Development for the World Bank’s China Country Management Unit, based in Beijing, covering China, Mongolia, and Korea. A geographer and anthropologist by training, Yaa has worked at the World Bank for over 20 years on social risk management and inclusion-related issues (with a focus on gender inclusion and disability inclusive development) in the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Eastern and Southern Africa, and currently in East Asia and the Pacific. Yaa also served as the Program Manager for the World Bank Group’s Young Professionals Program from 2019-2020.
