Madhu Raghunath is a seasoned professional with more than 22 years of international development experience across the World Bank Group, non-governmental organizations, and government sectors. She is the Practice Manager for the Urban, Resilience, and Land Unit in the Western and Central Africa region, covering nine countries including Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Ghana, Liberia, Nigeria, Republic of Congo and Sierra Leone. She was previously the Program Leader for Sustainable Development and Infrastructure in Vietnam ($6.9B portfolio) and Sector Leader for Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines, and Thailand ($2.5B portfolio).

Madhu brings operational and analytical expertise in the urban development, disaster risk management, water, urban transport, tourism, and land sectors in several countries in the Middle East and North Africa, East-Asia and Pacific, Africa West and Central, South Asia and Latin America and Caribbean regions. Before joining the World Bank Group, Madhu worked with AFL-CIO and Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  She has a Master’s in City Planning from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Master’s in Social Work from Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS).
