Manuel Mutimucuio is a Natural Resource Management Specialist in the World Bank’s Environment, Natural Resources and Blue Economy Global Practice. Based in the World Bank office in Maputo, Mozambique, Manuel supports implementation of the Mozambique Integrated Landscape Management Program and the Blue Economy Program. He focuses on biodiversity conservation, protected areas management, participatory community management of fisheries, and landscape planning and investments. He joined the World Bank in 2021 supporting the Integrated Landscape Management Program.
Before joining the World Bank, Manuel had extensive experience in international NGOs, private foundations, government, and donor organizations. Some of his work strongly focuses on the environment as a mechanism for poverty alleviation. Manuel holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Public Policy from the University of Coimbra, Portugal, and under/post-graduate studies in nature-based tourism and environmental resources planning.
