Mar Mar Thwin is an Education Specialist at the Education Global Practice in the East Asia and Pacific Region of the World Bank. She joined the Bank in 2014 based in Myanmar and has extensive working experience in the Pacific such as Republic of Marshall Island, Tonga, Tuvalu and Fiji. Her professional work includes Early Grade Learning Assessments, School Grant operation, and Teacher Professional Development. Mar Mar contributes her deep insights of Myanmar education sector to several analytical reports on EGRA-EGMA and HD PASA. Prior to the Bank, Mar Mar worked as an Education Program Manager at Save the Children for eight years, and as a Township Education Specialist at the UNDP’s Human Development Initiative Project for five years. A Myanmar national, Mar Mar holds a Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship under Fulbright program on Education Policy, Planning and Administration in Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN and holds a Post-Grad Diploma in ELT from University of Yangon, Myanmar. She is a recognized Reviewer for International Journal of Educational Development.
