Marcio Cruz is a Senior Economist in the Trade & Competitiveness Global Practice of the World Bank Group and a faculty member in the Department of Economics at the Federal University of Paraná (UFPR). He is primarily engaged with the Innovation & Entrepreneurship unit. Previously, he worked to the Development Economics unit, contributing to the World Bank’s flagship publications Global Economics Prospects and Global Monitoring Report. Prior to joining the Bank, Marcio has worked as an assistant professor at the Economics Department at the UFPR and as an Economist at the Secretary of Planning of the state of Paraná. His main research interests are international trade, firm dynamics, development economics, and impact evaluation. He received the World Bank's Research Academy Award in 2015. He holds a PhD in International Economics from the Graduate Institute of International and Development Studies in Geneva.
