Margo Hoftijzer was a Senior Economist in the Education Global Practice of the World Bank. Her work focused on the aligning education and training with labor and skills demand. Margo has led investment and development policy lending to improve education and skills development. She has led and contributed to peer-reviewed studies on education systems, skill forecasting methodologies, and skill constraints to business development. She was also the World Bank’s representative in the International Advisory Group on Technical and Vocational Education and Training.
 
Margo previously worked on social protection and labor, education, and poverty reduction in the World Bank’s Middle East and North Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South Asia regions. Prior to joining the World Bank, she worked in the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs, and for the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
