Maria Beatriz is a Development Economist and specialist in social inclusion, labor markets and gender analysis. While at the World Bank she has contributed to gender equality and inclusion in Latin America and the Caribbean, Africa, and South Asia through applied analytical work, including a gender and social inclusion lens in operations and policy dialogue.
She has conducted research on labor markets and poverty, the socio-economic impact of gender- based violence, access to services and opportunities for different social and ethnic groups, female labor force participation, women’s entrepreneurship, gender- based violence, gender and energy, and the development relevance of gender norms. Prior to joining the World Bank she worked as a Research Associate at the Center for Global Development and Professor at Universidad Catolica Andres Bello (Caracas, Venezuela).
