Emilia is a development economist working in the Poverty Global Practice in the LAC region. Before joining the Poverty team, she worked for the World Bank’s Gender Innovation Lab in the Africa Chief Economist’s Office and for the Office of the Chief Economist for Europe and Central Asia (ECA). Emilia has been leading different poverty and gender analytics, as well as impact evaluations focusing on closing gender gaps in agriculture, private sector development and access to finance. Her work, which has been translated into peer-reviewed publications, mainly focuses on gender, private sector, and poverty reduction. Her educational background includes a Master's degree in agricultural and applied economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
