María José (May) is a civil engineer specialized in Transport. She is a graduate of the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia and the École Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées. She also holds a master’s degree in Transport and Mobility and a master’s degree in International Leadership for Civil Engineers. May works in the Transport Global Practice, where she currently supports the preparation of transport projects in Tanzania, Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq. Previously, May also supported the implementation of transport projects in Peru, Indonesia and Timor-Leste. Her main areas of interest are rural roads, including community-based routine maintenance, and urban mobility. Prior to joining the World Bank, May worked in new technologies and sources of data applied to transport and mobility.
