María José Vargas is an Analyst in the Latin America & Caribbean Unit of the Education Global Practice, where she works on operations across countries in Latin America. She works in Argentina and Peru, and serves as a focal point for student learning assessments. Before joining the Bank, María José worked as a Research Fellow for the social sectors in the Inter-American Development Bank, and in the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development. She holds a BA and MA in Economics from Universidad de Los Andes in Bogotá, Colombia, and a MA in Public Administration from Harvard University.
