Maria has over five years of experience in conducting multi-method and mixed-methods research on gender, political representation, and political behavior. She has a PhD in political science from Indiana University Bloomington. Her dissertation research focused on familial ties, legislator behavior, and women’s representation in Pakistan’s National Assembly.
She has also worked as an educator in Singapore and the United States, and as a journalist in Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates.
