Mariam is an Analyst with the Women, Business, and the Law project. She conducts research and data collection on laws and policies pertaining to violence against women. She has also contributed to research related to family laws, focusing on assets, entrepreneurship, marriage, mobility, and workplace related questions.
Before joining the team in May 2022, Mariam contributed to a World Bank report documenting the legal consequences of COVID-19, focusing on the disproportionate impact on women and people of African descent.
A dedicated advocate for gender equality, Mariam collaborates extensively with the FGM Legal Working Group and other civil society organizations to address traditional harmful practices.
Mariam holds a Master of Laws (LL.M) in International Human Rights, with honors, from George Washington University Law School. She is fluent in French, English, and Spanish.
