Marko Bucik is an economic consultant working with the Agriculture Global Practice. A Slovenian national, he is currently based in Nicosia, Cyprus from where he is supporting the Bank’s work in Serbia through the Functional Review of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection. Within the Bank, he has previously worked on water challenges in Central Asia, agricultural risk and climate change strategy in Romania, food safety in Moldova, as well as agricultural policy in Tajikistan. Outside the Bank, Marko has held positions with the Slovenian Government, the European Commission and the European Parliament. He occasionally writes on economy and foreign affairs for a number of Slovenian and international media outlets. Marko holds an MA in International Affairs from the Elliott School of International Affairs at the George Washington University, and a BA in Political Science from the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Ljubljana.
