Matthew first came to India in 1986 where he worked as a volunteer with The Sisters of Charity in Calcutta. Following his graduation and a number of management positions in the UK, he was posted to India ten years later at the age of 29, as the Chief Operating Officer for Cox Kings, then India’s largest travel Company. In February 1999, Matthew initiated Magic Bus, working with children dwelling on the streets outside his office. Having played international rugby for India, he used this as his platform to engage these young men and he started a rugby team called ‘Magic Bus’. The epiphany was the impact on these boys sport and he resigned from his job in 2001 to work fulltime for Magic Bus. In July 2002, Matthew was awarded an Ashoka Fellowship and in 2007 he was awarded an MBE for services to children in the Commonwealth. He is o the board of number of non-profits and he is also co-founder of cleartrip.com, India’s largest online travel portal. Matthew is currently the CEO of Magic Bus in India and UK.
