Matthias Plavec is working on the World Bank’s engagement in railways and freight logistics. His recent work focuses on Climate Finance, Climate Resilience and organization of railway services. Prior to joining the Bank, he worked in the Austrian public sector on railway sector regulation, management of transport contracts under PSO regulation and ticketing systems. At the Austrian Federal Ministry for Climate Action, he played a pivotal role in the successful implementation of the "climate ticket”, a newly introduced country-wide flat-rate ticket. Matthias holds bachelor's degrees in Geography and Rail Technology, and a master’s degree in Rail Technology and Management of Railway Systems.
