Mazen Bouri had joined the World Bank as a Young Professional in 2005 and is currently Lead Financial Sector Specialist based in Dakar, Senegal with overall responsibility for the World Bank financial sector development engagements with the West Africa Monterey Union Regional Institutions as well as for the Senegal CMU (which covers , in addition to Senegal, Cape Verde, Guinea Bissau, Gambia, and Mauritania). Previously, Mazen was the EFI Program Leader based in Yaounde, Cameroon from 2017–2020 covering Central Africa region as well as Angola and Sao Tome and from 2011–2014 was the FPD Country Sector Coordinator based in Maputo, Mozambique.
In these roles, he supported a growing program of investment lending, budget support, technical assistance, and analytical work covering a range of topics including, Financial Inclusion, SME Finance, Housing Finance, Long-Term finance, and Capital Markets Development , Capacity Building , and Investment Climate Reforms. Mazen had also carried out assignments in the MENA and South Asia regions as well as elsewhere in Africa for various financial and private sector development projects.
Prior to joining the Bank, Mr. Bouri worked for ten years in Small and Medium Enterprise Development Projects funded by the Canadian International Development Agency, covering the Middle East Region and was based in Egypt through much of that period.He holds a Master sin Business Administration from McGill University and is a Certified Management Accountant from Ontario, Canada. He is fluent in English, Arabic, French, and Portuguese.
