Megersa Abate is a Transport Economist at the World Bank in Washington DC. He is the Global co-lead for the Aviation Solution Area at the Bank. He has expertise and interest in sustainable transport, air transport economics and regulation and transport modelling. He is engaged in several operational works and analytical studies in Central Asia and Africa regions. He received his Ph.D. in Transport Economics from the Technical University of Denmark. His research works have been published in leading transportation economics journals. Before joining the Bank, he worked as a researcher at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI), and the VU university of Amsterdam. Earlier in his career, he worked at the Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority as an air transport expert.
