Melissa Adelman is a Senior Economist in the World Bank Group’s Education Global Practice, where she works on operations and research activities across countries in Africa and Latin America. She has worked in diverse contexts, including the Democratic Republic of Congo, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Guatemala, and the Pacific Islands, and has led large research programs, including a multi-year research initiative on school dropouts in Central America and a regional study on education management in Latin America and the Caribbean. Melissa also serves as one of two Thematic Leads for the Education Global Practice’s Management Capacity and Service Delivery Thematic Group. Prior to joining the Education GP, Melissa worked in the Poverty unit for East Asia and the Pacific, where she focused on poverty measurement and labor market issues. Melissa holds a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University.
