Melody Benavidez is a Senior Urban Resilience Consultant in the Global Urban and Rural Resilience Unit of the World Bank. She has over 10 years of experience working to increase sustainable, inclusive and climate resilient urban development.
Since joining the Bank in 2016, she has supported countries such as Somalia, Dominica, and St. Vincent & the Grenadines to manage climate & disaster risks while building urban resilience to future climate impacts. She supports investments in strengthening institutions to deliver resilient infrastructure & urban services while maintaining a focus on increasing social inclusion for better social cohesion and resilience outcomes on the ground.
Prior to working for the World Bank, Melody worked on advancing socially responsible finance practices at the Royal Bank of Scotland in London, Sustainalytics in Boston and Arabella Advisors in Washington, DC. She holds a degree in Peace and Conflict Studies from the University of California, Berkeley and an MSc in Cities from the London School of Economics & Political Science.
