Meskerem Mulatu Legesse is a Senior Gender and Energy consultant at the World Bank. She has 13 plus years experience in leading and designing the inclusion of gender perspectives in energy projects aiming to bridge the gender gap in the Eastern and Southern Africa region. She is involved in developing context-based and gender-responsive solutions that promote gender equality and women empowerment. She also supports and supervises the implementation of projects with gender equality and women empowerment programs, specifically women’s employment programs targeting increasing women's participation in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). Before joining the World Bank, Meskerem worked for different international NGOs, research institutes, and private sectors leading gender equality programs in sectors such as agriculture, education, water and sanitation, business, and entrepreneurship. Meskerem has a Master’s degree in Gender and Development Studies, and she is a certified business and entrepreneurship training facilitator. Currently, she is studying a Master of Science program in International Business Management at the University of East London.
