Most of Michael Casey’s career was spent as a journalist, including 18 years at The Wall Street Journal, where he was a senior columnist covering global economics and markets and a frequent TV and radio commentator. In the summer of 2015, Michael left the Journal to join MIT, taking on an assignment as senior advisor to the Digital Currency Initiative at the MIT Media Lab. There, he is seeking to build awareness around digital currencies and the underlying blockchain technology, shaping scholarship around the topic, and exploring dedicated research projects that use this emerging technology to achieve social impact goals.
