Michael O'Sullivan is Lead Economist and Head of the World Bank's Africa Gender Innovation Lab, an action-oriented research lab that identifies what works to promote women's economic opportunities in Africa and uses these insights to shape policy. The Lab’s evidence has informed $14 billion in development investments across 59 countries and has shaped multiple policy reforms. Michael's research has been published in the Journal of Development Economics, World Development, and other peer-reviewed journals. He served as a U.S. Peace Corps Volunteer in Burkina Faso and holds a master's degree from Columbia University's School of International and Public Affairs.
