Mohamed Ihsan Ajwad is a Senior Economist in the World Bank’s Social Protection and Labor Global Practice. Since joining the World Bank in 2000, he has worked in Europe and Central Asia, Latin America, and the South Asia regions. He has authored and co-authored over 25 papers/reports on social protection and labor, poverty, education and skills, and public economics. Ihsan has co-led a jobs focused development policy operation and has co-led an emergency food price crisis response operation. He has also been a team member on lending operations in Bangladesh, Latvia, Nepal, and Serbia. Ihsan is a Sri Lankan and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
