Monica Vidili, PhD, is a Social and Gender consultant for the World Bank Group and the Inter-American Development Bank. She specializes in gender inclusion and social development in disaster risk management, climate change, and community engagement.
Ms. Vidili has been the 8th President of the Margaret McNamara Education Grants (MMEG) from 2015 to 2017. MMEG is a charity hosted at the World Bank: it was founded in memory of Margaret McNamara, wife of Robert McNamara, president of the World Bank Group from 1968 to 1981, and provides education grants to women from development countries and to low-income students in Washington, DC. Ms. Vidili also served in the Board of Directors from 2011 to 2017.
An Italian national, during her studies at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), at the University of London, co-founded with other four Social Anthropology students a web magazine, called Local Voices, to give local intellectuals, artists and ethnographers a forum to discuss ideas about social development.
