Montserrat Pallares-Miralles is a Senior Economist, currently with the Global Unit at the World Bank. She has more than 30 years of professional experience in the fields of macro-economics, education, and social and economic research, particularly on the topics of social insurance, pensions, and population ageing. She holds a M.A. and B.A. in Economics from Central University of Economics, Political Science, and Sociology of Barcelona, Spain. She has authored numerous papers and technical reports, particularly on financial sustainability of pension systems, coverage gap, financial literacy, and international patterns of pension provision. Since the early 2000s she has provided capacity building, knowledge transfer, and policy analysis on social insurance, pensions, and population ageing related areas in more than 80 countries worldwide, particularly in the regions of MENA, LAC, and some countries in Africa, ECA, and Asia.
