Mukta Joshi is a development economist and currently works as an independent consultant. Mukta has extensive experience in applied research across multiple disciplines (development finance, private sector development, and applied behavioral science) and geographies (North America, Sub-Saharan Africa, Middle East, and North Africa, and Asia). Most recently, Mukta worked at ideas42 where she led the behavioral design process in partnership with the World Bank and country governments to incorporate behavioral interventions in cash transfers programs of various sub-Saharan African countries. Before joining ideas42, Mukta worked with the World Bank and International Finance Corporation (IFC) in Washington D.C. At the World Bank, Mukta researched financial access for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and households in South Asia. At the IFC, Mukta was a lead contributor to the G-20 SME Finance Stocktaking Report published at the G-20 Seoul Summit 2010. Mukta holds a Ph.D. in Development Economics from the Ohio State University and a Bachelor’s and master’s in economics from Mumbai University, India.
