Myrta Kaulard assumed duties as United Nations Resident Coordinator in Mozambique on July 1, 2019. Between August 2017 and June 2019, she was Representative and Country Director of the World Food Program (WFP) in Nigeria. Her fist assignment as UN Resident Coordinator was in Cuba between 2014 and 2017 when she was also UNDP Resident Representative. In total, Kaulard has been with the UN for 28 years, mostly with WFP. She has been WFP Resident Representative in Haiti (before, during and after the earthquake and cholera epidemic), in Guinea Conakry, Ivory Coast, Cuba and Indonesia. She has also worked in Kosovo, Iraq, Honduras and Burundi.
Kaulard began her career in 1986 as a researcher for the public administration in her home town, Bologna, Italy and then in the private sector. Ms. Kaulard has a master’s degree in International Affairs from the International University of Japan and a one-year diploma form The Johns Hopkins University. She graduated in Political Science at the University of Bologna, Italy. Kaulard is fluent in Italian, German, English, French and Spanish and has a working knowledge of Portuguese.
