Nagavalli Annamalai is a Lead Counsel at the World Bank, specializing in banking sector development and legal and regulatory issues of the financial system for the last 17 years. Prior to joining the World Bank, she was the legal advisor at the Central Bank of Malaysia for 13 years.
Nagavalli works in all regions of the world and has provided technical assistance to more than 50 countries on banking sector laws, central bank laws, legal and regulatory architecture, bank resolution and asset management companies and financial sector infrastructure matters. She has in-depth and comparative knowledge of financial sectors and legal and regulatory developments in the regions across the globe. She has also done extensive legal reviews of financial sector legal and regulatory framework, financial sector reports and financial sector strategies. In addition she has been part of numerous financial sector development projects across the globe. Nagavalli has authored many reports and articles within and outside the World Bank. She completed her studies at Harvard University and the University of Malaya, Malaysia.
