Najumuddin Najum is an Agriculture Economist/Specialist based in Kabul, Afghanistan. Prior to this, he worked for more than 13 years in planning, design and implementation of Resilience Agriculture & Water Management projects funded by World Bank, USAID and WFP with Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock (MAIL) of Afghanistan. He has been involved in multiple World Bank supported projects in Afghanistan with key role as Deputy director for Emergency Agriculture & Food Supply Project (EATS), Technical coordinator for the Afghanistan On Farm Water Management Project (OFWMP) and Project manager for Resilience & Food System project (RFS) of World Food Program (WFP).
Mr. Najum, is an Afghan national, joined the World Bank in July 2023 with AGF Global Practice (GP). Since from his joining to Agriculture and Food (AGF) GP, provided his valuable input in completion of Climate Smart Agriculture Action plan (CSAAP) for Afghanistan, Investment option in Horticulture sector-Afghanistan reports and key contributor for design of Additional financing 01 and 02 of Emergency Food Security Project (EFSP).
Mr. Najum holds a master’s degree in agriculture water management from Agriculture University, Peshawar, Pakistan with one year diploma in Leadership development from Institute of Leadership development, Kabul, Afghanistan. Besides that, he has been a member of Intl. commission for Irrigation and Drainage (ICID) since 2017 and presented different research papers on Agriculture Water Management under this forum.
