Nakawala Lufumpa is a human development specialist with over five years of research and consulting experience focusing on women and young children in low- and middle-income countries, with an additional focus on Sub-Saharan African countries. In 2021, Nakawala joined the West Africa unit of the Social Protection and Jobs Global Practice as an Africa Fellow and continued as a consultant. At the Bank, Nakawala has conducted extensive research to strengthen the impact of social protection programs on childhood human capital in the Sahel region. Nakawala has a PhD in Applied Health Research from the University of Birmingham; and holds two degrees from the University of Virginia – a Master’s degree in Public Policy and a Bachelor’s degree in Global Development Studies with a concentration in Global Health.
