Naoki Kakuta is a Transport Specialist based in Singapore, where he leads road and aviation engagements in Samoa, Solomon Islands, and Timor-Leste. Naoki also serves as a focal point in greenhouse gas accounting for road projects for the Transport Global Practice. In that role, he has supported economic analysis in Afghanistan and Kenya, in addition to the Pacific. Prior to joining the World Bank in 2017, Naoki was a Senior Consultant with an infrastructure consulting company for five years, working for multilateral and bilateral donors on master planning (corridor development and urban transport) and preparatory surveys (road and railway) in 10 countries, mainly across East Africa and South Asia. An engineer by training, Naoki holds a Master of Engineering (Civil) from the University of Tokyo and a Master of Science (Transport) from Imperial College London and University College London.
