Narae Choi is a Senior Urban Development Specialist for the Global Practice on Urban, Resilience and Land (GPURL).
Ms. Choi leads the Global Smart City Partnership Program (GSCP) as well as the advisory services and analytics on Inclusive Cities in GPURL. She joined the World Bank in 2013 as a Young Professional and has worked on the national community-empowerment program of Indonesia, based in Jakarta. She has led urban operations in Rwanda, Tanzania, and Kenya, and has done much analytical work in Africa. She holds a doctorate (DPhil) in International Development from the University of Oxford, with a specialty in development-induced displacement and resettlement, slum upgrading, and affordable housing.
