NATALIA CIESLIK has worked in communications and journalism for the last 19 years focusing on conflict and development issues in Sub-Saharan Africa, Asia and the Middle East. Between 1994 and 2000 she was based in South Africa and covered news and current affairs from Liberia, Rwanda and DR Congo and beyond. She was a correspondent in Iraq during and after the 2003 invasion, and reported on diamond mining in Sierra Leone, post-9/11 Somalia, and the conflict in Kashmir/India.
More recently, Natalia worked as a Senior Communications Specialist in the Washington D.C. Office of International Medical Corps and was part of the organization’s emergency response team with assignments in Afghanistan, Iraq, Myanmar, Sudan, and Somalia. She was also the Communications Director at Women for Women International. She is a contributing author of a forthcoming World Bank handbook on Post-Disaster Housing Reconstruction.

Natalia holds a BA in Social and Business Communication from the University of Arts in Berlin and a MA in Security Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service.
