Nele Warrinnier is an economist in the Global Unit of the Poverty and Equity Global Practice at the World Bank. Her research interests lie at the intersection of development and labor economics, focusing on inequality in labor markets and human capital in developing countries. As an applied micro-economist, she has worked on a wide range of topics including early childhood education, female labor force participation, inequality, informality, and technology adoption and her work has been published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Economic Journal and the Journal of Development Economics. Before joining the World Bank, she was awarded a Marie Curie post-doctoral fellowship at the School of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London. Nele holds an MSc from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a PhD in Economics from KU Leuven.
