Nelson Mauricio Gutiérrez Endara is the Senior Social Protection Specialist at the World Bank Office in Ecuador. Mr. Gutierrez pursued his studies of Economist at the Central University of Ecuador. Later, he completed a specialization in Agricultural Economics with emphasis on Rural Development and Environment, at the Iowa State University and a Diploma in Preparation and Evaluation of Social Projects at the Latin American Institute for Social Research, in Bolivia. He obtained his postgraduated degree in Rural Transport Economics and Local Development, at the University of Liege, Belgium.
He has extensive work experience in the public and private sectors. He has worked in several agencies of the United Nations System and joined the World Bank in 2004 as a consultant in the area of Human Development. As of 2008, he was hired as Operations Officer and later as Social Protection Specialist. He has developed and implemented several projects related to social protection, education, health, among others, in Ecuador and Peru.
