Nerali Patel is an urban planning expert at the World Bank’s Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery (GFDRR). Trained as both an architect and urban planner, Nerali has played a key role in climate resilience analytics and advisory programs, helping governments in over ten countries address their unique urban resilience challenges. She has led technical assistance projects focused on extreme heat resilience in India, South Africa, and the Western Balkans and has contributed to several World Bank publications, including the Sustainable Development Flagship report "Thriving: Making Cities Green, Resilient, and Inclusive in a Changing Climate." Before joining the World Bank, Nerali worked in private and public sectors, scaling up programs that integrated real estate, urban development, and climate change. She holds a Master of Architecture from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Master's in Urban Planning from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.
