Dr. Nicola Jentzsch is Chief Data Scientist of Germany’s Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), where she builds up the BMBF Data Laboratory. Before joining the Ministry, she worked at the Federal Chancellory in the unit responsible for the creation and coordination of the Data Strategy, where she laid the foundations for the chapters‚ 'data infrastructure', 'ecosystems', and 'state‘ of that strategy. Dr. Jentzsch is an economist with more than 20 years of research in digital markets (information intermediation, competition strategies and consumer behavior). Her current special interests are data analytics and depersonalization methods. She holds a doctorate in Economics from the Freie Universität Berlin and was a Research Fellow at Yale University and Georgetown University. In the past, she published her research in international peer-reviewed journals. Dr Jentzsch has also served as adviser to the European Commission, the World Bank, CGAP and GIZ. Just recently she was appointed to the Board of Trustees of Fraunhofer ISST.
